• What do you expect from the course?
I expect to learn all the learning outcomes of the module so that I can have the skills required to do all the things possible with the languages that I will have learnt.

• How do you rate your knowledge of the Internet?
I believe I have a very good knowledge of the internet but as time moves on so does the internet, therefore there is always something new to learn and I believe as the web develops so will my knowledge.

• When did the Internet begin?
I believe the internet began during the 60s (1969) as a university project and through the success saw numerous university joining the project. The technology was then sold to the people that wanted to profit off the technology and thus begun the global usage of the internet.

• When did the Web begin?
Tim Berners-Lee invented the World-Wide Web in 1989

• Draw a ‘mind-map’ of as many Internet based applications as possible
Instant messengers, Internet Explorer, Mozilla firefox, Microsoft outlook.

• What kinds of applications might be developed in the future?
Applications that is of valuable use such as the ones I mentioned above should be developed. An application which handles all your finance such as an online banking application can be very useful.

• How safe is the web? Name some potential dangers and their possible solutions …
The web is very safe IF you have VERY GOOD knowledge of the internet. However to the majority of the users online who are not so good with the internet might find it very unsafe. This is because of the viruses and Trojans waiting to infect every pc connected to the net, which apart from buying Norton’s antivirus will need further protection methods to remain uninfected. These methods include using programs such as adware remover, Trojan remover, and are only known to the minority of the users. There is a solution for this which will require Norton antivirus to merge with the leading anti Trojan and adware companies to create the ultimate Software to protect the computers from internet virus, Trojan, and adware.
Another possible danger of the internet, of which again applies to the users with a lack of internet knowledge is the dangers of fraudulent activities. There can be fake websites pretending to sell items, some of which does not exist, which then results in the users losing either their money or having their account details stolen. Solution to this problem would be to create a website of which licences all websites to sell or buy product. E.G. if a newly formed website wishes to sell products to the public then they shall request authorisation from the website providing the licence, giving details such as address, bank details and all other relevant information which should prevent fraud. The licence website should then be able to list the websites it has given permission to sell so that the users can check the validity of the website they wish to purchase from.
